In 1996, Tom Hanks released That Thing You Do!, a film about a fictional 1960s band called The Wonders. Like many real bands and startups, they burned bright, found success fast, and eventually fell apart.
The story follows Guy Patterson, a talented small-town drummer who joins the band almost by accident. He isn’t the loudest personality in the room or the one demanding the spotlight. He’s simply focused on the work. As the band’s success grows, Guy discovers his own potential and becomes the catalyst that elevates everyone around him.
Ironically, it is Guy’s creativity and adaptability that take the band to the next level. But instead of learning to appreciate each other’s strengths, ego, jealousy, and poor communication got in the way. The band eventually broke up.
It’s a fictional story, but it’s also a reality that plays out every day in startups.
A lack of intentional communication robs the world of beautiful art, world-changing products, and incredible teams.
That’s one of the reasons I asked our entire executive team at Pistachio Pay to join The Fulcrum. Our AI executive coach Archie, helps us understand how each person communicates, thinks, and works best, so we can respect each other’s genius instead of fighting against it.
The people who change the world rarely do it alone. They do it by learning how to create alongside people who think differently than they do.
We’re not building a one-hit wonder at Pistachio Pay.
We’re building a lifelong companion for people who have been overlooked by traditional financial tools. And we’re doing it because we genuinely love what we’re creating.
Money should work with your brain.
Pistachio Pay is being built to reduce the mental load of money management for neurodivergent adults.
