Healthy Teams Build Things That Last

Harvard Business School found that 65% of high potential startups fail because of co founder conflict.

If your a startup founder, pay very close attention to that startling stat.

65%!

This begs the question, how do we prevent cofounder conflict? What makes a great team?

I don't think it's talent alone.

I've seen incredibly talented people fail because the culture wasn't healthy. I've also seen teams with less experience do extraordinary things because they trusted each other and protected the health of the team.

Strong teams don't happen accidentally. You have to build them intentionally. You have to create psychological safety. You have to create accountability. You have to make sure people feel seen, challenged, and supported.
Because execution is not just strategy. Execution is energy over time. And energy over time requires health.

At Pistachio Pay, we made team health a non negotiable from day one. Here is how we survive the startup pressure cooker:

1.) Aces in their places: We respect each other's expertise and defer to each other's lanes.

2.) Radical honesty: It is a core requirement, not a suggestion.
Intentional tools: We literally use a custom AI executive coach to map our psychological blueprints and translate our communication styles before conflicts happen.

3.) External wisdom: We surround ourselves with incredibly wise people and have access to leadership coaches who are already offering to work with our team because they believe in us and what we are building.

A lot of founders obsess over speed. I'm increasingly convinced sustainability wins.

Healthy teams build healthy systems. Healthy systems build things that last.
