PORTLANDIA WEEK · PART 2 OF 5
The Dream of the 90s Is Alive in Personal Finance
The dream of the 90s is alive in Portland… but unfortunately, it is also alive in personal finance.
Continuing my Portlandia hyper fixation week!
In the show, the joke is that Portland is stuck in this weird, outdated 1990s analog time warp. But as a fintech founder, I look at the current landscape of budgeting apps and see the exact same thing.
Our budgeting tools are literally running on decades old analog mindsets. We are still using rigid envelope systems and manual transaction sorting to manage how neurodivergent brains actually move through money in 2026. While the rest of the tech world moved forward, personal finance tools for neurodivergent minds stayed stuck in the past.
It is time to wake up from the dream of the 90s. At Pistachio Pay, we are bringing behavioral finance into the future with AI driven impulse interception.
