Brilliance and Trauma Coexist

I’ve been watching Drops of God on Apple TV+ and I can’t stop thinking about it.🍷🌿

There’s a character whose story unfolds without the usual storytelling rules. You piece her together through fragments. Childhood memories. Sensory flashbacks. Moments that don’t fully make sense until they do. And when an early memory surfaces and unlocks a truth she’s been carrying, something shifts. She’s set free.

It’s one of the most beautiful portrayals of trauma I’ve ever seen on screen.

This woman is a genius. She can hold a glass of wine and sense the vineyard, the year, the soil, the weather. Her brilliance is breathtaking. But for a long time, trauma was suffocating it. Not erasing it. Suffocating it. The gift was always there. It just couldn’t breathe.

And that’s what I keep sitting with.

Brilliance and trauma are not opposites. They coexist. One doesn’t cancel the other out. But trauma has a way of sitting on top of the extraordinary things about you, pressing down, making it harder to access what was always yours.

Like a vintage wine, her story unfolds on the palate. Layer after layer revealing itself. And sometimes the most complex notes only emerge after something bitter has been acknowledged.

Neurodivergence is beautiful. Full stop. The way some of us process the world, sense patterns others miss, feel things at a frequency most people can’t access. That’s not a deficit. That’s a gift.

But when trauma enters the picture, it can stifle that beauty. Suffocate it. Prevent it from showing up the way it was meant to.

Not everyone gets the TV version of healing where the truth surfaces and the credits roll. Most of us are still mid-vintage. Still unfolding. Still finding out what we taste like when the weight finally lifts.

That’s what Pistachio Pay is built for. Not a world where you’re “fixed.” A world where your financial life works with the way your brain actually operates, so the brilliance has room to breathe.

Money should work with your brain.

Pistachio Pay is being built to reduce the mental load of money management for neurodivergent adults.
